Ink and Ecstasy

April 7-8, 2012.
New Orleans

Whether we seek, study, practice or facilitate spiritual endeavors, we understand the value and importance of spiritual practice.  Writing is an integral part of my own spiritual practice.  I do it not out of discipline, but for love.  I’ve always been a scribbler, a keeper of journals, a list maker, a story teller.   If it’s important, it gets written down.

Writing practice opens us up to ourselves, creating a space where all parts of the self find a voice on the page.  It’s impossible to hide from ourselves in all that empty space begging to be covered in ink.  Inviting the parts of ourselves to speak their peace, we see ourselves clearly and can come not only into alignment, but agreement so all our parts can work in harmony toward the goal of living our lives in a more fully empowered and authentic way.

Writing practice opens us to ecstasy. When we write, we are able to discern the voices of the rational, the wild and the divine quite clearly—and can answer without hesitation the question, “How do I know which soul is speaking?” I have yet to find a more meaningful way to access the wisdom of the Personal God and am consistently stunned by the universal truth and beauty of that voice.

Ecstatic writing helps us access other planes of existence where we garner wisdom and insight.  Certainly, we find it helpful to have pen in hand when we find ourselves the recipients of such gifts.

Language is a powerful tool.  Whether we employ it in communication, for self revelation, entertainment, devotion or magic we cannot help but be transformed by what we commit to the page. When we read or listen to the written words of others, we drink in information but also beauty, inspiration, passion, emotion.  Whether we read poetry, prose, nonfiction, self help, anthropology, religious texts, on-line blogs or old fashioned newspapers (remember those?), words connect us to something larger than our own viewpoint.   Reading is an intimate act.  As is writing words we intend to share with others.

I want to share with you the practice of writing as a means of deepening your spiritual practice and more fully engaging the three souls in meaningful conversation. I want to speak with you about ecstatic writers I enjoy and share with you their works.  Ink & Ecstasy will push your limits, broaden your sights and raise your expectations regarding your own capabilities.

We’ll be utilizing tried and true writing practices right alongside some wild exercises to help us get ink on the page.  Along with writing practice, we’ll do some guided meditation work to hep us slip out from under the hands of judgement and need for approval.  Great discussions and maybe even a little music will keep things moving.

I cannot wait to meet you.
